I like to think I’m a reasonable woman. I’m happy to do what every woman does in her own home – rule the roost. Only in my case, it’s not just a roost. It’s a fully stocked zoo. I know what you’re thinking, a lot of homes can be a bit zoo-like, especially at feeding time. But mine actually is. You see, this God that my husband thinks is the bee’s knees has commissioned us to save the entire animal kingdom from extinction. And the straw that broke this camel’s back was today . . . I’ve run out of ideas for catering. I need a holiday. Or at least a long soak in the bath. Just jump in, he says, I’ll fish you out later. I could wring his neck.

I started as an actor [“darling” – laughter] and I absolutely love performing. But I started writing out of necessity because I wanted to perform Bible stories, in churches, and there aren’t many scripts around – particularly for women and/or solo performers.
